Brian Kirkland

Brian Kirkland

Licensed Agent

Brian grew up with the space program in Cocoa Beach which inspired his love for science and science fiction. His attraction to technology inspired a fascination with broadcasting. While enjoying surfing, fishing, scuba diving, camping, hunting and just having fun in the sun, Brian also entertained his friends by broadcasting over the CB radio with the “handle” of Captain Kirk. After studying radio in college, Brian focused on professional broadcasting while working for stations such as; WKKO, WEZY, CK-101, KRBE in Houston, followed by stations in Orlando like STAR-101, COOL-105.9 FOX-35, and Smooth Jazz 103.1 WLOQ where he was Program Director when the station won the award for Smooth Jazz Station of the Year in 2006 from the national broadcasting weekly, Radio & Records. You might remember him from one of his highly rated shows including, “Saturday Night at the Oldies,” “Lunchtime at the Oldies,” “Blast From The Past,” at Walt Disney World, “The Big Chill,” at the Stouffer Resort, “Newsic,” a music video and news show on FOX 35 or maybe the live Halloween offshore broadcasts from the “Bermuda Triangle,” aboard Sea Escape.

Brian met his future wife, Amy in the control room of STAR-101 while she was making sales calls for a local hotel convention center. They have been married for over 30 years and have three beautiful and talented children, the youngest of which is set to graduate from UCF this year with a degree in engineering. Brian enjoys yoga, good coffee, grilling, watching blockbuster movies, spending time with friends outdoors by the pool, puttering in the garage and in the yard pointing out squirrels to his dogs Maisy and Noodle.

After a long career in broadcasting, Brian went back to school at UCF to focus on a degree in advertising and public relations. That led to a request from UCF to teach a class in radio production and programming and the creation of a company for internet broadcasting and voice production to inspire his students to find success in the industry. Brian took time off from teaching after three years to help his sisters care for their ailing parents and discovered how complex today’s medical system can be for people suffering from ALS and Dementia. After the passing of his parents, Brian found a new calling in helping people navigate life affirming decisions through today’s medical insurance options. Brian chose Allgood Financial because of the great people who work here, the awesome support they provide to agents and clients and their vision for growth in today’s robust economy.

According to Don Carlson, the company’s CEO, “Brian is both brilliant and compassionate, and those are traits we know will serve him well in his new career.  His genuine commitment to helping people will ensure that his clients will get honest, caring advice and first class service.  We are delighted to have him on the Allgood team.”
